Hot Weather. Hot Team!
The Club’s 38 Gators turned in their strongest performance of the season Thursday night, against the 60 swimmer Belvidere Barracudas with a season high 228 points.
The boys team matched Belvidere point for point, finishing tied at 135. That total alone surpassed our Gators’ overall team scores from each of their first two meets. The team’s focus showed throughout the evening, with just one disqualification.
We continue to trend in the right direction, recording 98 splashes, or individual race entries, also are highest total of the season. Swimmers posted 34 personal best times, including several by the 15 & O group, an impressive accomplishment as time improvements become more difficult with age.
The team’s growth continued as another Lil Gator competed in their first meet, and one more swimmer earned a Championship Meet qualifying time, bringing the team’s total qualifiers to 19. Danny Bartolet and Romie Robins tied for the team lead in points, while Sofiya Gaffney also turned in a standout scoring performance.
The Gators return to action Tuesday against the Hackettstown Hurricanes. Families are reminded to declare their swimmers’ availability, sign up to volunteer, and bring donations to Friday’s practice for the team’s 5th Annual AmeriCan Food Drive.
